What You Need to Know about the Governor’s Latest Bill

Summaries & next steps for you to take

Earlier this year, the Governor released Executive Order N-62-20. This document announced criteria for a “rebuttable” presumption in regards to COVID-19. (Not sure what this means? No problem! Read our summary & explanation here.)  The Governor’s newest bill, SB1159, extends this “rebuttable” presumption to January 2023.

A critical component of this latest bill requires California employers to report all known (or reasonably known) Employee positive tests for COVID-19 to their claims administrator.  This obligation applies even if the employee is not making an allegation of workplace exposure.

Our summary of SB1159 (and what businesses should take note of) is here

Please note these regulations only apply to businesses with 5 or more employees.
